On Saturday, May 15, the Mu Omicron Chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority of Arlington, Virginia, will virtually host the 2021 Eastern Regional Conference. Mary E. Porter, Eastern Regional Director, will present the prestigious Community Service Award to the private, nonprofit organization Bridges to Independence—Northern Virginia’s leading provider of services for homeless women, families, and those at risk.

Samuel L. Kelly, Jr., CEO of Bridges to Independence, will be guest speaker on the subject of homelessness, and he will accept the award on behalf of his organization. Bridges to Independence has been serving the community since 1985 and is committed to lifting those in need and breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty. This very important organization serves more than 120 families and over 300 individuals, including 200 youth. Over the years, Bridges has helped hundreds of families emerge from homelessness into independent, productive lives.
The Mu Omicron Chapter is proud to be a long-time supporter of Bridges to Independence and shares its dedication to helping the most vulnerable in our community. The sorority is committed to building bridges in our community and will strengthen its partnership with Bridges in the years ahead.
